Happy Fall Y’all!

We have finished our unit on spiders.  The children learned some fun facts about spiders.  I hope that your child has told you some of the interesting things that we have learned.

We are off to Judd’s pumpkin patch!  The kids are soooooo excited!  Every day they count to see how many more days until we go.  Our field trip is this Wednesday.  We will be leaving at 9:00 am so please make sure your child is on time for school that day.  Be sure to return the permission slip and field trip fee ($1).

There will be no school on Thursday and Friday of this week and Monday of next week because of fall break.  There will also be no homework.  Enjoy your time off.

Dear Parents,
Snow much fun!  Last week we started our unit on snowmen.  The children had a lot of fun making snowman salad.  Some of the other activities we did last week included a snowman glyph, a sight word snowball fight, and a snowman windsock.  We will wrap up our study of snowmen this week.

I will be sending home our rhyming literacy bag this week.  Please only keep the bag for one or two nights.  I hope that your family will enjoy the activities in this bag.

Winter has definitely arrived and so has coat season!  Please take a few minutes to write your child’s name inside all coats and hoodies.  Remember the “lunch bunch” goes outside for recess daily so a coat is very necessary when the weather is chilly.

Word of the Week

Students will be learning the sight word “can”.

Dear Parents,
Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and a wonderful break.
December is an exciting month in Kindergarten.  We do a lot of fun projects this month to help teach the children various math, writing and reading skills.
Your child will be making a Christmas gift for your family I am asking that each child bring a  $1.50 to help cover the cost of supplies.  I have told the children that they need to earn the money by helping at home.  Please send the money to school with your child as soon as they have earned it.  Thank you!
Your child’s homework this week is  to read their favorite Christmas book and complete a book report on it.  Please read your child’s favorite Christmas book with them and then use the paper that I have included in their homework folder to do a simple book report.  When your child is finished with their book report, please have them bring it back to school.  I will have the children share their reports with the class.  If you want, you can send the book to school with your child as well and I will read their book to the class.  I hope that your family will have fun doing this activity.
