Kindergarten News
November 29, 2010

Dear Parents,
Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and a wonderful break.
December is an exciting month in Kindergarten.  We do a lot of fun projects this month to help teach the children various math, writing and reading skills.
Your child will be making a Christmas gift for your family I am asking that each child bring a  $1.50 to help cover the cost of supplies.  I have told the children that they need to earn the money by helping at home.  Please send the money to school with your child as soon as they have earned it.  Thank you!
Your child’s homework this week is  to read their favorite Christmas book and complete a book report on it.  Please read your child’s favorite Christmas book with them and then use the paper that I have included in their homework folder to do a simple book report.  When your child is finished with their book report, please have them bring it back to school.  I will have the children share their reports with the class.  If you want, you can send the book to school with your child as well and I will read their book to the class.  I hope that your family will have fun doing this activity.
Word of the Week
Students will be learning the sight word “to”.
Letters of the Week
Tuesday: Pp
Thursday: Rr
Students will learn to identify upper and lower case letters, the sound for each and be able to write the letter using the correct formation.
Math
In our math center this week, students will practice counting to twenty-five.  They will be making a count down to Christmas chain.  Watch for this to come home in their backpacks on Wednesday.
